Each year, Cabarrus County Schools celebrates Youth Art Month by hosting a street festival featuring an art display, street performances and the art awards ceremony on an outdoor stage. Original pieces from CCS students in preschool through grade 12 are exhibited at the Cabarrus Art Guild in Downtown Concord. Street performances include choral and theater groups from throughout CCS.
The highlight of the evening is the announcement of the Superintendent’s Choice Art Awards. Three new art pieces selected by the Superintendent are added to the permanent art collection which is displayed at the CCS Education Center. One winner from each respective level (elementary, middle and high school) is given this honor and awarded a monetary gift of $100 by CCEF.
