Where are you from? Where did you study?
I am originally from Cabarrus County and graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High. I attended Gardner-Webb University for undergrad and UNCG for my Master's.
Have you always wanted to teach?
I always knew I would have a role in Education, I just wasn’t sure what it would be and with what age group which probably explains why I’ve been a classroom teacher, AIG support and Media Coordinator for grades K-12.
Who were you most influenced by and why?
Outside of my parents I would say my Kindergarten and Third Grade teachers – Mrs. Litaker and Mrs. Murdock. Both ladies were so kind and made learning fun for me.
What do you consider your biggest success as a teacher?
Creating programs that make a difference for students and staff.
What do you like best about JM Robinson High?
The people! I am amazed at how many different groups I’ve worked with this year and the number of students that have utilized the Media Center. Our staff is incredibly dedicated and I love how everyone works so hard encouraging our students to succeed. The admin team has given me an incredible amount of leeway and allowed me to create change in the Media Center. These folks inspire me!
What do you plan on doing over the summer?
I have a HUGE reading list and nothing would thrill me more than to have hours of uninterrupted time to simply be still and read. (I know, I’m a librarian what did you expect?)
And last but not least...
Where would you go in a time machine?
I would travel to the set of The Carol Burnett show and be part of the live studio audience when she portrayed Scarlett O’Hara with the curtains on the rod for her dress. Hilarious!
