Kindergarten students at Cox Mill Elementary School will learn the basic elements of non-pitched instruments while 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will continue units on recorders and expand into non-pitched instruments to increase their music experiences.
Orchestra students at CC Griffin Middle will expand their repertoire and practice their performance technique while performing in the community during the holiday season.
Fifth grade students at WM Irvin Elementary will work as meteorologists and build weather stations, plot fronts on weather maps, explore the six major weather factors, cloud formations as well as different types of wind.
The creation of a Maker Space area at Pitts School Road Elementary for all students to be able to freely engage in creative activities which include legos, engineering kits, electrical circuit kits, computer coding kits, building blocks and more.
Funding will provide W.M Irvin Elementary teachers with resources to enhance their literacy library for kindergarten through third graders.
Curriculum for counseling at Wolf Meadow to help students choose effective coping mechanisms in academics, behavior and life experiences outside of school.
A local artist, Ingrid Erickson, will come to Harrisburg Elementary and work with each third grade class to share the history of Chinese paper cutting and to help students create their own art piece.
Kindergarten and First graders at Wolf Meadow Elementary will be introduced to programming through the Hour of Code website and then transition to programming actual robots to perform specific tasks.
This project will provide bilingual books as a tool to develop children’s linguistic and literacy skills as well as to promote parental engagement at WM Irvin Elementary.
A new, inexpensive sport that will be accessible to all grade levels, integrates math, responsibility and important life-skills at Harris Road Middle.
Funds will allow small groups of Foods I and Teen Living students to practice basic food preparation skills in cooking labs at Jay M Robinson High School.
A classroom to home library at WM Irvin Elementary to build reading stamina and fluency as well as parent engagement.
Students in the Behavior Focused Self Contained classroom at CC Griffin Middle will be introduced to new coping skills through creative expression activities to include art, dance, writing, relaxation, drama, cooking, and play therapy to name a few.
